Overview:

Self-Reflection: The process of looking inward to examine our thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Organizational Reflection: refers to considering how work-related issues affect one’s ability to achieve positive outcomes (Schon 1983).

Self-reflection -

  • Promotes self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness, which are essential skills in effective communication and conflict resolution.

  • It helps us better understand ourselves, our strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.

  • By engaging in self-reflection, we can identify patterns of behavior, biases, and beliefs that may influence our interactions with others.

    Organizational Reflection

  • Encourages adaptability to changing environments, fostering a mindset of continuous learning.

  • It may improve team cohesion

  • Promotes awareness of leadership behaviors impacting team relationships.

  • Enables all members of the team to be better understood

Positive Implications of Reflection:

Performance:

improves performance by allowing people to draw lessons from their past experiences (Anseel et al. 2009)

  • take responsibility for their past performance (Ellis et al. 2006)

  • feel more confident about achieving their goals (Di Steforno et al. 2014)

Health and well-being:

  • reflecting on the positive aspects of one’s job helps people positively reframe their work situation ( Fritz & Sonnentag 2005)

  • Employees who engage in end-of-workday reflection exercises that focus on the positive events that happened to them reported fewer physical and mental complaints(Bono et al. 2013)

Relationships and social influence:
